LocationTech wearable devices are an additional way to launch a Rave Panic Button incident.
When someone activates their wearable device, the Rave Panic Button launches incident notifications to all configured recipients via in-app push notification, email, and SMS message. As the user moves, the wearable device will send location updates to the Rave Panic Button incident.
If a client has integrated their system with the PSAP, the wearable activation also triggers a Panic Button incident in in ComandCentral Aware or Rave Command View.
Wearables Do Not Receive Notifications or Initiate 911 Calls
Wearables provide a quick and discrete way to activate a Rave Panic Button incident. They do not have cellular capability and cannot use phone call or SMS protocols.
This means wearable devices cannot receive notifications about other incidents or initiate 9-1-1 calls.
Wearable activations launch an initial notification and then ongoing updates to the Rave Panic Button incident with all new location information. The first notification sends as soon as the activation happens and then an update sends once the bluetooth beacons calculate the exact location.
This ensures everyone onsite knows about an activation instantly and also receives the most accurate location data once its is available.
If the activator moves while their wearable device is active, the system will send additional location update notifications to all app users on site.
Each notification uses app push, SMS, and email contacts as configured for each Rave Panic Button contact.
As soon as a user activates a wearable button, Rave Panic Button launches an activation message just like those for app button activations. This message identifies the activation campus, building, and associated staff member.
Once LocationTech’s beacons identify the precise indoor location, Rave Panic Button sends an incident update containing the associated floor and room number. This update will appear as an update in the same incident.
This second notification may take up to 20 seconds after the first one.
LocationTech offers two activation button types for clients to choose from.
The fob-style button is small and easily portable.
The card-carrier button is larger and contains a slot for a staff member’s ID card.

Activating a wearable device sends out two sets of activation push notifications, SMS messages, and email notifications to Rave Panic Button users. App users get the same alarm sounds and notifications as they would for other kinds of activations.
The first notification launches as soon as someone activates a wearable button. Just like a Rave Panic Button button activation, it will contain the affected campus, building, and associated staff member.
